Given the globalization of economies,  a growing numbers of consumer multinationals  continue to focus on international sales for revenue growth, specifically Asia Pacific. The fast moving consumer good players were amongst the first to establish presence in Asia, with a long-term view to building brand equity and market share in critical consumer markets, from Japan, to Greater China and South East Asia.  Majority of the  international luxury goods, fashion, mass merchant retailers scaled their retail presence aggressively in China only since the mid 2000s, capitalizing on the urbanization and the growing middle class, despite the recent set backs. 

Today, exciting technology has disrupted the traditional business models  in the consumer arena. Technology has created a new industry where business is open anytime, anywhere and anyway the customer prefers to shop. Companies can no longer separate their bricks and mortar stores from their e-commerce, but must view business in a holistic strategy providing a seamless experience for the omni channel consumer.   Two new critical imperatives for companies are a digital strategy to capitalize on the rapid proliferation of social and digital media, coupled with the ability to use big data analytics to provide meaningful insight in the customer needs and behaviors,  to optimizing pricing, to improving supply chain efficiency.
