Alfred Pong is Managing Director, Greater China, based in Shanghai.

Alfred is a member of the Technology, Life Sciences and Industrial Practice Groups. He assists venture capital and private equitybacked companies as well as global multinationals to bring in senior leaders across both Greater China and the Asia Pacific. Alfred’s strength lies in his nearly 20 years of engineering, management and consulting experiences and deep understanding of the software and Internet industries. He also brings a wealth of knowledge as a serial entrepreneur, involved in the start up of several successful technology ventures, combined with his unique and inspiring leadership style.

Prior to joining SES, Alfred was Investment Partner at Cybernaut Venture Capital, where he focused on Information Technology, ITenabled services and Life Sciences investments. Alfred was also Vice President of Product Management and Development at 99Bill Corporation, the leading electronic payment company in China, where he led the development and launch of several successful online and mobile payment services. Alfred started his career in the Silicon Valley, where he was the founding member of several successful technology companies, including Expert Edge, Future Labs and WebEx Communications (a NASDAQ listed, global leader in web conferencing services, acquired by Cisco in 2007. Alfred held senior roles in Engineering, Product Management and Product Marketing in these companies.

Born in Malaysia and educated in Malaysia, Singapore and the US, Alfred holds a M.S. in Engineering Economic Systems from Stanford University and a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of San Francisco. He is multilingual, with fluency in English, as well as Mandarin and Cantonese.
